César Rey Hernández is a Professor at the Graduate School of Public Administration and an Associate Professor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. Dr. Rey Hernández has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he received the Gabino Barreda Award, given to the highest-ranking graduate in the program.
In his nearly four decade-long career, Dr. Rey Hernández has authored and co-authored over a dozen books and published over a hundred professional articles on topics in sociology, education, migration, and human trafficking in Puerto Rico. Additionally, he has been a guest speaker at numerous university conferences, including at Brown, Harvard, Princeton, and New York University.
Between 2001 and 2004, Dr. Rey Hernández served as Puerto Rico Secretary of Education. He has also served as department chair, director of academic research centers, and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Rey Hernández has also been a member of the Board of Directors of various educational, community, and non-profit organizations. Dr. Rey Hernández was the Executive Director at the Puerto Rican Endowment for the Humanities and is currently a member of its Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Ángel Ramos Foundation.
